Dr. Lotes Nelson is a member of Southern New Hampshire University's clinical counseling faculty. She received an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Walden University. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a nationally certified counselor (NCC), and an approved clinical supervisor (ACS).

Her clinical experience includes treating children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, specializing in eating disorder/disordered eating, body image concerns, trauma counseling, depression, anxiety, relational issues, and cultural adjustment concerns, utilizing a variety of theoretical techniques.

Nelson maintains her strong advocacy involvement in her immediate community and nationally, to continue to raise mental health awareness by profoundly engaging in professional conference presentations and providing mental health wellness workshops. She serves on the board of directors for the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of North Carolina and holds an active role with varying organizations, such as the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, and the National Board for Certified Counselors Foundation.
