Juan is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Widener University. He has been interested in the integration of mechanical and electronic design with control engineering since he attended college; after graduating, worked for an industrial automation company in the department of R&D. During graduate school and Juan's appointment as postdoctoral fellow, researched the application of control engineering to improve the performance of orthoses that require periodic motion, explored new instrumentation ways to control orthoses, designed testing equipment, and developed prototypes of robotic mechanism using 3D printing. He has experience doing research and development, product design, and industrial automation. Juan's formal training has been in mechatronics, power electronics, and robotics.
