As General Partner & Counsel for Aventurine, Michele heads up the IP Commercialization Program. Michele is a highly accomplished intellectual property attorney with a proven track record in litigation, licensing, portfolio strategy, development and management across diverse technical sectors and emerging technology.
Prior to joining Aventurine, Michele was a Director in the IP Credit Group at Fortress Investment Group where she managed the performance of patent-backed investments, including driving portfolio monetization strategy. Michele tried patent cases in the U.S. district courts and the International Trade Commission with the law firms of McDermott Will & Emery and Cooley LLP before becoming Director of Acquisitions at RPX where she directed the assessment, valuation, and licensing of hundreds of patents.
Michele directed trial strategy for dozens of patent litigations including achieving the second-largest patent verdict in U.S. history. In her roles at RPX and Fortress, she negotiated $120+ million in licensing deals. She was responsible for the asset management of patent-backed investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars in invested capital. Michele is Head of the SF Bay Area Chapter of the International Intellectual Property Commercialization Council, an NGO dedicated to the commercialization of intellectual property.
