Dr. Baron teaches general, environmental and pathogenic microbiology; molecular biology; and human genetics. His research areas and specializations include production and biodegradation of polyhydroxyalkanoates (bacterial plastics); biofuels; microbial fuel cells. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in biology from University of Dayton; Ph.D. in anaerobic microbiology from Virginia Teach; and Postdoctoral research, Medical College of Virginia: molecular biology of bile acid metabolism by colon bacteria.
