Steven Sashen: the ultimate shoe-preneur, designed a multi-million dollar shoe business, Xero Shoes, which has grown to earn more than $33 Million.
When Steven Sashen started competitive sprinting (again) at age 45, it wasn’t the age that beat him down. After all, today he’s one of the fastest Masters All-American Sprinters at 60. But early on, he constantly suffered from foot-related injuries, no matter what shoe he tried. So he ditched the shoes, and running barefoot led him to create minimal footwear brand, Xero Shoes.
Sashen is Co-Founder and CEO, and Xero Shoes’ mission is to help people “live feet first.” What started as a DIY sandal kit that turned down an offer on Shark Tank, has grown into a company with a loyal brand following that includes 53,600 5-star reviews. Xero Shoes differentiates itself with a foot-first design to mimic natural, barefoot-inspired movement. Every boot, shoe, and sandal features a foot-shaped toe box, flexible sole, non-elevated heel, and is incredibly lightweight.
After years of bootstrapping Xero Shoes’ growth, Lena and I are thrilled to have a partner that shares our vision and has the resources to help us become a global brand that helps more people experience the comfort and benefits of our footwear.9 August 2021
