Tammy Camp is the CEO and Co-Founder of Stronghold, a financial infrastructure company whose powerful tools provide fast, secure, and accessible financial services. Stronghold, recently named as a Forbes Fintech 50 company, works with businesses like IBM and Lyft to make payments quicker and easier while maintaining regulatory compliance and interoperability between payment systems. Under her leadership, Stronghold recently launched the highly successful digital currency SHx to provide cross-ledger liquidity. Its innovative token design also underpins Stronghold’s decentralized services, including customer rewards and governance of the token itself.
Inspired by her previous entrepreneurial experiences across the technology and startup landscape, Tammy founded Stronghold in 2017 to bring better financial services to companies and retailers. Before founding Stronghold, she served as a Partner for the Silicon Valley venture capital fund 500 Startups. There, she invested in portfolio companies and spearheaded curriculum management for its growth and marketing activities. Tammy was also the first Head of Growth for Stellar, the open-source payments platform for fiat and digital currencies. In this role, she helped the platform attract an astounding 4 million users within its first two months of operations. Outside of her work with Stronghold, Tammy also serves as an advisor to numerous companies in the security, consumer, Internet, and executive research fields, including Walmart, Lloyds TSB, Hotwire.com, Holiday Autos, and eBay.
Tammy is a respected leader in the startup and fintech spaces and has been a self-proclaimed “technology geek” since she wrote her first code at the age of six. Tammy has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, NPR, and the International Business Times and has spoken at Fintech events for companies like Amazon and IBM. She recently appeared on Fortune’s The Ledger 40 under 40 list, which recognizes young leaders transforming business at the intersection of finance and technology. Tammy is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the global leadership community of extraordinary chief executives. She is also the winner of the 2022 Women in Payments USA Innovation Award.
Tammy is a 2011 graduate of the GSP program at Singularity University at NASA Ames and received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. She holds a world record in kiteboarding.
