Thomas R. Bumbolow is Head of Business Development at Midwest Holding Inc. (NASDAQ:MDWT), a rapidly growing, technology-enabled, services-oriented annuity platform.
Midwest designs and develops in-demand annuity products that are distributed through independent distribution channels, to a large and growing demographic of U.S. retirees. Midwest originates, manages and transfers these annuities through reinsurance arrangements to asset managers and other third-party investors, who are actively seeking these financially attractive products. Midwest also provides the operational and regulatory infrastructure and expertise to enable asset managers and third-party investors to form, capitalize and manage their own reinsurance capital vehicles.
Mr. Bumbolow is focused on growing Midwest’s relationships with equity investors, reinsurance partners and asset management clients. Moreover, he has been integral to Midwest’s efforts to streamline access to complementary annuity and income financial products by connecting individuals seeking to fund retirement with asset managers and institutional investors seeking unique uncorrelated, enhanced returns. His 25+ year industry background includes expertise in sales, capital markets, credit, business development, and risk. He is recognized as an early pioneer and industry veteran of the derivatives market.
In addition to his business development role at Midwest, Mr. Bumbolow has served as an advisor to Capital2markets, a technology-based broker/dealer; Limitless Ventures, a venture impact capital fund; and Vchromatix, an early-stage private technology company. He also co-founded protoCapital, a merchant bank and private finance business that operated from 2017-2020 as a division of broker/dealer AK Capital. He has also been an active board member and audit committee member of the Saba Income & Opportunities Fund (NYSE:BRW) since 2020.
Previously, Mr. Bumbolow spent 20 years at JPMorgan Chase where he held various roles in fixed-income sales and trading that focused on credit derivatives, corporate bonds, loans, structured credit across fundamental credit, arbitrage and basis strategies. While there, he generated over $1 billion in fixed-income revenue. As the top producing salesperson for the global credit business, he averaged over $50 million in annual production. Additionally, he built and managed the firm’s top hedge fund relationships while distributing the most formidable deals and structures in the credit business.
Mr. Bumbolow earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston College. He has been a board member of Stepping Stones Museum for Children since 2018. He is an avid reader, yogi, cyclist, and golfer that lives in Westchester with his wife, two daughters and their beloved great dane.
