Family businesses are crucial to the health of Europe's economy. They contribute more than 50% to the eurozone's private sector activity and are playing a crucial role in the recovery of many of the hard-pressed economies of the region.

This is why CampdenFB, in association with BNP Paribas Wealth Management, recognise this dynamic sector through the European Families in Business Awards, with 2019 marking the eighth year of the ceremony.

In 2019 the awards gala will take place in Milan on 2 July. Italy is a fitting venue as a major hub for European family business activity, with around 784,000 family businesses in the country—more than 85% of the total number of businesses—that employ about 70% of the nation's workers, according to the Italian Association of Family Businesses (AIdAF). Two-thirds (66%) of Italian family businesses are fully managed by family members, while this applies to only 26% of French family businesses and just 10% in the UK.
