Coming to Singapore for the second time, the Women in IT Awards Asia 2020 aims to readdress gender imbalance within the tech sector.
By showcasing the achievements of women in the sector and identifying new role models, the Women in IT Awards Asia 2020 shines a light on female talent achieving success in the sector.
Encouragingly, a university in Malaysia has managed to enrol 60% female computer science students and a university in Thailand came close with 50% women on its computer science courses. However, sadly these figures do not resonate for the rest of Asia with women in IT lacking in Japan, Korea and India. In Singapore, female representation in the IT sector has been hovering around 30% since 2000, even as more have climbed the ranks and taken on senior leadership positions.
Since its launch in 2015 the Women in IT Awards have showcased women in technology in London, New York, Dublin and San Francisco. Organised by business-technology site Information Age, the Women in IT Awards Asia acts as a flagship and high-profile platform to support the industry in its mission to move the dial on gender.
Offering a series of awards, ranging from CIO of the year through to Young Leader of the Year, the program provides a platform to identify females at all levels achieving great things in Asia.
