This well-established event always attracts a sizeable gathering of leaders from the UK infrastructure industry, both from the public and private sectors. We are also fortunate that government ministers have chosen to speak at all the previous editions of this summit.
The 2023 Summit addresses the urgent need for the UK to rapidly decarbonize energy generation and transport so that the UK can meet its net zero targets. The speakers will assess the investment environment and the relative attractiveness of the UK, given the U.S. IRA and the emerging EU equivalent, as well as a range of other relevant issues. There will be a detailed focus on the opportunities and challenges in delivering the government’s sustainable infrastructure plans, including the government’s revised Net Zero Strategy and Green Finance Strategy. Significant investment from the private sector will be required if electricity generation and transport are to be decarbonized. Turning to market developments, we will examine the UK Infrastructure Bank’s key investment priorities, as well as the latest innovations in finance, including the development of new partnership structures. In the afternoon, there will be deep dives into key sectors, including new nuclear; offshore, onshore and floating platform wind; hydrogen; carbon capture and storage; and EV infrastructure.
