This year’s meeting is extra special because, after more than two years of being confined in our respective countries and meeting virtually, we can finally interact with each other face to face.

I am grateful to our members for supporting AIC’s events and programmes, which were held despite the challenges presented by the pandemic. The insurance industry, which thrives on human interaction, has been greatly challenged. Thankfully, technology came to the rescue. The creativity and can-do attitude of the members are likewise admirable.

The insurance industry is faced with a multitude of tasks ahead. We continue to grapple with the challenges of making sustainable insurance, net-zero insurance, and nature-positive insurance a reality while facing the effects of climate change. It’s a time to be excited about the endless possibilities, but at the same moment, we are being confronted with geopolitical and socio-economic issues that dampen the air of optimism.

With the ASEAN Spirit in our midst, we can help the world recover stronger with a growth that is inclusive, resilient, and collaborative.
