The AFR Banking & Wealth Summit is Australia’s premier forum for policy announcements from the Treasurer and industry regulators. The 2019 summit will also be an excellent opportunity to hear from key industry leaders following the completion of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
Restoring consumer confidence is vital for the industry and the way the government responds to the recommendations will determine how the financial industry and system adjusts in the days ahead. With a superb speaker line-up and discussion panels, the 2019 programme will provide an opportunity to dialogue on one of the most important inquiry’s since the establishment of our twin peaks regulatory model.
In addition to the Royal Commission, the two-day agenda will also look at how the industry is adjusting to greater transparency with innovation and technology creating unprecedented disruption.
Facilitated by the Australian Financial Review’s Editor in Chief, Michael Stutchbury, Senior Financial Services Reporter, James Eyers, and the Financial Review’s financial reporters, this is the only event where you will hear from all the important industry stakeholders that assist you in making important decisions in your organisation, that will ensure trust is rebuilt and consumer confidence is regained in the days ahead.
Topics include:
• Hayne Royal Commission recommendations (subject to no extension requests by the Royal Commission)
• Open Banking, competition and better consumer outcomes
• Technology, disruption, and innovation
• Post 10 year GFC, housing and irresponsible lending
