In response to the March 2020 market turmoil, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to propose new rules related to open-end fund liquidity and dilution management. In addition, the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), and other regulatory bodies in the United States, Europe, and Asia are studying the impact of bond mutual funds on financial stability.

In order to ensure policymakers have an accurate understanding of the March 2020 market events, Investment Company Institute (ICI) research staff will present its analysis of bond mutual funds’ activities and their impact on the US Treasury and US corporate bond markets in March 2020.

It will consist of a presentation, a discussion with bond fund industry representatives with firsthand experience of the March 2020 period. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions.
