Banks are currently facing unprecedented levels of new and emerging regulation which they are expected to comply with. Moreover, regulators are taking a keener interest than ever before in how banks are complying, and issuing more stringent penalties to those who are not. The internal audit department is responsible for ensuring that the correct controls around this regulation have been implemented and are working, making a thorough understanding of all this regulation and how to audit it essential. However, since a typical auditor will focus on multiple different areas, and the regulation is changing and developing so quickly, it is becoming harder and harder to keep up. Our conference will demonstrate how to audit these increasingly complex pieces of regulation, as well as how to deal with some of the other consequences of the challenging regulatory environment, such as the need to recruit and retain specialist staff.
