Housing associations recognise the importance of affordable housing in rural areas – and the positive impact that it can have. That’s why we have an ambition to increase current housing supply in rural areas by 6% per year over the next five years.
Local landowners are vital to bringing forward land for housing in rural areas and we want to explore how housing associations and landowners can work together to deliver more.
We are aware that many landowners are interested in providing affordable housing for local people, but there are challenges that we can overcome, if we work together. These include:
• planning
• finance
• general development knowledge
• managing community relationships
This conference will explore these issues and hear from experts in each field, politicians and landowners themselves. By working together we will be able to overcome these barriers and increase the supply of rural affordable housing.
