We'll have an update on GDPR as the reality bites and the migration to a PECR world. We’ll also be looking at the latest on the Regulatory Technical Standards for Strong Customer Authentication and will have a detailed review of the CBI’s latest report on financial services – Funding Our Future – where they look at how the products and services provided by this critical sector keep the economy moving, driving prosperity and lifting productivity. In this report, the CBI has specifically called for:
• New mechanisms, such as a new Treasury Select Committee sub-committee for financial services, to scrutinise regulations and taxes that put customers first;
• Strengthening engagement with the Financial Stability Board and more international regulatory coherence to support investment and innovation;
• A cross-sector financial services technology “hub”, supported by the Treasury and Financial Conduct Authority, to share best practice, knowledge and latest technologies.
We will discuss these points in detail and look at where the payments sector can directly contribute to the development of future policy.
