Cyber continues to be insurers' great hope for growth. However, due to numerous losses, many insurers are acting cautiously and continue to offer only limited capacity. New captive companies have brought movement to the market here, as has the entry of new providers. The market potential for cyber coverage for the SME sector has so far only been partially exploited.
The earnings situation has improved, not least due to stricter IT security requirements for customers, but the constantly changing threat landscape remains a challenge. With the increasing use of AI by cyber criminals, new risk dimensions are to be expected; politically motivated cyber attacks are likely to continue to increase due to geopolitical tensions. Ransomware attacks continue to be the number one cause of claims. Dealing with potential accumulation risks is keeping underwriters on their toes. Cover for systemic risks such as infrastructure and energy will continue to be possible, if at all, only by resorting to state fallback solutions.
What's next for cyber insurance? When dealing with this question, practical claims, real experience and the resulting correct risk assessments and corresponding contract and premium structures are of the utmost importance for all parties. At this Euroforum conference, you will receive answers, no matter which side of the industry you are on.
