Data centres, once considered a very alternative asset class that was overshadowed by demand for general warehouses, are now keenly sought by investors as strong occupier demand keeps vacancy rates at record lows.
The growth of the data centre market is being fuelled by data-hungry applications such as e-commerce, cloud gaming, the metaverse and AI, plus the introduction of 5G and the increase in remote work. As a result, a wave of new data centre supply is coming online in Australia, rising 6.8% pa since 2016 and expected to rise a further 4.5% pa until 2026. Investors are also piling in attracted by both the macro growth story and stable long-term returns with $US1.4 billion in data centres traded across the Asia Pacific region in 2022 and $3.8 billion worth of investment into Australian data centres in just the past year.
This is the Australia’s only event focused on real estate and investment strategies. It will bring together all the key global and local players to discuss the national data centre market, new developments and acquisitions, supply and demand dynamics, as well as construction, development, and design trends. The event will feature top level presentations, interactive panel discussions as well as roundtables and networking activities.
