Insurance is an integral pillar of the financial services industry, contributing 1.9% of total employment and 3.9% of Hong Kong’s GDP as of 2019. However, young talents often have a misperception that the industry is all about hard selling insurance products to peers and might hesitate to enter the field.
Indeed, more job opportunities are arising from the development and emergence of InsurTech. With four virtual insurers with unique background and business model entering the insurance business, more job opportunities are now available for graduates from different disciplines. On the other hand, the introduction of the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme and the Qualifying Deferred Annuity Policy also brings new career prospect to the sector.
