Banks continue to be major targets for cyber attackers, with incidents hitting the headlines regularly. A criminal gang installs malware on ATMs in the US and steals more than $1m. Hackers illegally use a security-testing tool to garner $17m from 240 Russian banks. A hostile state conducts a malware attack on banks and other organisations across 150 countries and causes untold damage to their operations. These were all real incidents that happened this year and last.
This second annual FT Protecting Banks in Cyberspace conference will provide a platform for bankers, government officials, regulators, security experts and others to discuss the growing risks facing banks in cyberspace. They will explore what they are doing to protect themselves and what more remains to be done.
Topics up for discussion include the attack vectors and how to defend against them, an analysis of real-life incidents and the lessons learned, and the importance of a coordinated industry-wide effort to improve protection.
Moderated by Financial Times journalists, this afternoon event will provide much food for thought as well as plenty of practical advice. It will involve audience Q&As with speakers and panellists and great opportunities for networking. If you want to know more about cyber security in banking, this is an event you should not miss.
