The salt warehouse is one of the most important industrial monuments in Tyrol. From 1256 to 1967 salt production in Hall belonged to the important economic factors of Tyrol. In 1852-54, a salt magazine was erected in the saline area, near the then new Fürst-Lobkowitz brewhouse, which provided storage for 3360 tons of salt. The elongated building with hipped roof and simple facade division carries the style features of historicism, that style of the 19th century, the design elements of past eras varied. The monumental character of the warehouse is determined by the ceiling height over two storeys and a middle row of 15 mighty, 9-meter high round arrows made of breccia.
Since the revitalization by the Innsbruck architect Hanno Schlögel in cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office / Provincial Conservatory for Tyrol (1995-1997), the salt warehouse acts as an exhibition and event center.
