While the Construction & Built Environment industry continues to contribute 13% to global GDP and employs millions of people worldwide, it also accounts for 40% of all global emissions, thereby putting global climate change goals at great risk.
The industry continues its recovery post-pandemic, amidst global geopolitical instability, surges in inflation and supply bottlenecks.
It is in this environment and facing these challenges that key themes have begun to emerge: Can a more sustainably driven project attract further investment flows? What skills are required to improve the sustainability of the sector? Are current reductions in emissions targets achievable and if so, how?
This year’s Conference looks to take the theme of sustainability one step further with a focus on social value, socioeconomic prosperity and culture change.
It's not just about being green, but also about building in resilience to our infrastructure to slow climate change: How can we support communities through good planning and delivery of infrastructure projects? In what ways can the built environment play a role in supporting better community engagement in the future? What are the best ways to measure carbon, decarbonise real estate, and protect biodiversity? Together, how can professionals in the Construction & Built Environment industry contribute to a prosperous future for generations to come?
