The world is currently being overtaken by one crisis after the other and uncertainties are also growing in this country. In many places, benefits that companies could derive from Industrial IoT (IIoT) , such as data-based decisions and more agile production processes, are not yet being realized. With the lack of adaptation, quite a few companies have probably simply missed the best opportunity to be able to react better to risks and problems in supply and value chains, as the results of a current IDC study show:
Just 29 percent of the industrial companies surveyed are actively implementing IIoT projects.
Of these, only a third also measures the success of their IIoT projects, and only a quarter has developed comprehensive decision-making rules to control IIoT projects.
Only every tenth company has so far defined a coordinated data and analytics strategy, which is a critical prerequisite for a holistic IIoT strategy and the entire industrial digitization.
The lack of a spirit of optimism is also reflected in the IIoT application scenarios used, which are more focused on optimizing the status quo than on the transformation and, if necessary, disruption of traditional processes and business models. However, global competition never sleeps and German industrial companies are in danger of being outdone not only in mass production, but also in products and services that are characterized by innovative strength and engineering skills.
The good news: it's not too late for a turnaround! A fundamental basis for successful IIoT can certainly be seen in German industry, but this now urgently needs to be expanded, professionalized and accompanied by holistic digitization and data strategies.
Industrial IoT (IIoT) has arrived in German companies. Current IDC study results show that more than one in four of the companies surveyed from industry and industry-related sectors has already implemented their first IoT projects. It is now important for these companies to also apply IIoT more strongly in the context of digitalization and, above all, to understand the opportunities that this modern technological approach brings with it, apart from optimization and cost savings. To do this, IIoT must be understood as a business topic that enables new business models and innovations in order to ensure long-term competitiveness - also and especially in times of the pandemic.
As part of the Conference you will learn from the experts from IDC and our event partners in a compact and clear manner how you perceive digitization as an opportunity to create more sustainable and profitable customer relationships and to continuously adapt the value of your product to changing customer requirements .
During the conference we will discuss, among others, the following topics:
• Data Monetization.
• Edge Computing.
• IoT and other promising technologies such as AI, blockchain & augmented/virtual reality.
• Digital ecosystems.
• IoT und Customer Experience.
• IoT and the nirvana of automation.
