The wave of digitization has enabled all industries to embrace the use of Artificial intelligence technologies in their research and development strategies. This has led to diversification in IP subject matter compared to what core industries have been dealing with for decades, primarily due to changing technical agenda to software-based inventions. Developing IP strategies dealing with such inventions has been challenging, due to the special place in IP law for software-based inventions, which affect AI inventions. Stakeholders in the innovation value chain have struggled to adopt sound IP protection strategies.
