The Markets in Financial Instruments (MiFID) legislation has been in effect since January 2018 and the start of the year has already seen a consultation by the German Federal Ministry of Finance to analyse any need for amendments. Other consultations may follow and the European Commission shall publish a review report in 2020. Brexit is likely to bring further challenges and change as firms are confronted by both an EU MiFID and a UK MiFID.
