The Micro Merchant Summit 2020 is the first ever Asia-Pacific Summit focused on expanding opportunities for the region’s more than 200 million micro merchants who can be brought into a digital finance system. With the expansion of digital technology and new innovative business models, these opportunities have never been greater. The Summit agenda will specifically emphasise the potential for financial inclusion and digital technologies to transform the region’s trade landscape and enable micro merchants to increase their contribution to economic growth significantly. The actions needed to unlock this potential will be discussed from both policy and practice perspectives.
The Summit will take place during the first quarter of 2020 within a major Asian city (specific date and location to be confirmed).
An initiative of FDC and Banking with the Poor (BWTP), the Summit will bring together up to 500 participants representing a wide range of key stakeholder groups including senior government officials, industry experts and practitioners, academics and leaders from the region’s most prominent development agencies. Over a three-day period, the Summit will include a range of activities for participants including plenary discussions focused on cutting-edge issues, capacity building workshops, field visits, networking events and roundtable meetings.
