An increase of uncertain geopolitical situation is forcing military forces to speed up their acquisition and development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Teal Group reported in their recent study that global military UAVs procurement will increase exponentially to US$13 billion annually by 2030, accumulating US$123.1 billion over the next decade. The contemporary tactical and medium altitude long endurance (MALE-class) UAVs appeared to be the most cost-effective to meet the current and future threats by providing timely Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), target acquisition and counter-land, counter-sea and anti-submarine strike capabilities. However, there is an emerging interest in the development of next-generation platforms that can undertake higher-end operations such as air-to-air combat, electronic warfare (EW) and long-range strike.

Following the success of drones since the start of Russia’s invasion to Ukraine, the evolution of UAVs continues to surprise. Ukraine “kamikaze” first person view (FPV) drones are the latest cheap and precise tiny platforms to attack. Generally weighing less than 500g, the drones are able to carry rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) of up to 1kg and hone in on targets at high speeds for damaging. On another side, Russia has been using Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones packed with explosives and pre-programmed with a target’s GPS coordinates. However, the competition of drones’ capability and price is getting heated, some military weapons experts predicted that less than US$1,000 worth of FPVs are the next evolution of battlefield drone technology.

Join us at this event to learn the advancement and development of UAV technology to maximise the use of high-tech military assets. Tune into insights from high-profile military spheres, subject experts and industry leaders about how to adapt the UAV platforms through innovation and gain an advantage in deploying an effective operating UAVs for successful military missions with real-world use-cases and panel discussions.
