Over the last 20 years, capital markets have benefitted from a low interest rate environment that has catapulted asset prices to historic maximum levels, creating massive wealth around the world. Current inflationary pressures might bring interest rate up to levels not seen since 2007 when the Bank of England base rate was at 5.75%.

Learning outcomes from this session;
• Understand how private equity investors in other countries with high inflationary and interest rate environments, manage their investments to maximise returns
• Explore the effect inflation and high interests had on private equity investments in the past, and how these affected returns and dynamics in the market
• Understand the potential effects that the current inflationary and expected high interest environment can have on private equity investments, and what sort of responses investors should prepare for to tackle the new framework
