Florida’s budget and spending policies and the implications of proposed tax amendments will be analyzed by Robert E. Weissert, Esq., Executive Vice President of Florida TaxWatch. Sponsored by Roetzel & Andress.
The program will address the Legislature’s restructuring of funding for the state’s economic development agency, Enterprise Florida, and tourism promotion agency, Visit Florida. Proposed tax amendments will also be discussed. Florida’s current cap on non-homestead property tax rate increase will expire at the end of this year unless voters approve Amendment 2 on the November ballot, which will make the cap permanent. Unless approved, the increase is expected to cost property owners approximately $700 million annually. The ballot also includes Amendment 1, which would increase the homestead tax exemption by $25,000. Following the presentation, Mr. Weissert will respond to questions of specific interest to the real estate investment and development industry.
