Eastern Africa also has significant solar energy potential, with abundant sunshine and vast areas of unused land. The region's solar energy potential is estimated to be around 600 GW, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency. Countries in the region, such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, have made significant progress in promoting solar energy development, with policies and incentives in place to encourage investment in the sector. Kenya has implemented feed-in tariffs and net metering schemes, while Ethiopia has established a dedicated agency for renewable energy development. International organizations such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank have provided funding and technical support for solar projects in the region. As a result, the solar energy sector in Eastern Africa is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, providing clean and reliable energy to millions of people in the region.

The total installed capacity of solar energy in Eastern Africa reached 1.5 GW in 2020, with Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia being the largest solar markets in the region. The report notes that the region has the potential to generate up to 25 GW of solar power by 2040, with solar energy becoming increasingly competitive with fossil fuels in the region.

This event will provide an outlook for the future of the solar market, including potential growth opportunities, technology advancements, and policy changes.
