In this introductory webinar, hear MBA and industry experts provide an overview of Special Purpose Credit Programs (SPCPs), what they are and why they are important, as well as how MBA is working to support its members interested in establishing a program.
Supporting lenders who want to create SPCPs is a critical component of MBA's Building Generational Wealth through Homeownership policy initiative. When properly designed, SPCPs can play an important role in promoting equity and inclusion and removing barriers that have contributed to financial inequities, housing instability, and residential segregation. Lenders of all sizes and business models can create these programs to help expand access to homeownership to communities of color.
Objectives:
• What is a Special Purpose Credit Program (SPCP)?
• Who do SPCPs benefit and how?
• Challenges and considerations with setting up an SPCP
• Current regulations and what regulators are saying
• Role of MBA and related advocacy work
