In this seminar, has emerged as a transformational tool for the Economy and Society. The recent debate about the risks of this technology highlights its power and raises questions that deserve immediate attention. The Financial sector, an essential piece of the developed world, has also been impacted by AI. While some envision an idyllic future, where most financial problems have been easily solved, others foresee a brave new world of unemployment, inequality, and des-humanization.
In this seminar, we will provide a short introduction to the foundations and possible uses of AI in the context of banking and investments. We will illustrate our exposition by presenting cases that show the benefits of using AI in specific problems such as Portfolio Management or Anti Money Laundering. We will also briefly address some concerns about the uses of this technology in the context of Banking and Investments and highlight the importance of regulation, governance, and ethics.
