More and more private and institutional investors are groping in and taking into account environmental, social and corporate governance criteria. For ESG factors in equities and bonds, however, there are no recognized benchmarks - in contrast to traditional key figures such as the price-earnings ratio, the dividend yield or the credit rating. Corporate ESG measures are not standardized and difficult to measure.

Every investor must therefore find their own way, and there are many routes. Investors can banish the worst culprits - such as personal mine manufacturers - from their portfolio, thereby lowering the reputational risk. As a shareholder you can influence the behavior of the companies in dialogue with the company management and via voting rights at the general meeting. Or they can finance projects that are socially or environmentally beneficial.
