The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) will host a webinar for “Black History Month.” This webinar will discuss economic and community development issues affecting communities of color. The event will build financial capacity by increasing awareness of tax resources for low- and moderate-income (LMI) households and small businesses. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will discuss challenges that Blacks currently face and partnership opportunities. The FDIC #GetBanked movement and the findings from the 2021 FDIC National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households will be highlighted. Bank On Kansas City and Bank On Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will provide current updates and accomplishments. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will highlight resources and opportunities to build financial capacity by supporting Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. Tax assistance sites will highlight their resources and share volunteer opportunities.
