This event is the latest updates from key bodies involved in tackling financial exclusion. This conference will also showcase a range of best practice case studies, providing practical guidance on how best to support vulnerable people to manage debt, develop long term financial resilience and retain their tenancies. You will also have the opportunity to network with senior colleagues across the public sector, sharing solutions to key challenges and good practice. Financial exclusion can present in many forms, including not having a bank account, inability to access mainstream credit and lack of digital and financial skills. The Resolution Foundation has found that this exclusion from financial products, services and support is closely associated with poverty and social exclusion.
With the Office for National Statistics predicting inflation to hit a 40-year high of over 11% in October 2022, vulnerable households and individuals are likely to face a large squeeze on finances. As a result, ensuring people have the knowledge and resources to protect their funds and maximise their income will be pivotal to prevent the detrimental effects of the cost-of-living crisis. Now is the time for local councils, housing associations and charities to work together to protect vulnerable households and support individuals to tackle financial exclusion.
