For many South Africans, their biggest assets are probably a company pension fund and their home. Some own businesses. The more affluent may even have a second holiday home. This could mean that they are overexposed to the domestic economy and its cycles. Investment diversification means that you spread your risk over asset classes and regions, or country. A portion of your discretionary money should be taken offshore, but of course the size of the allocation depends on individual circumstances.
We believe it’s prudent to spread and broaden your investment opportunity set. Wayne will explore how best you can get exposure to offshore investment markets.
