This seminar is bringing together policymakers and stakeholders to consider key challenges and opportunities for developing the UK’s night-time economy.

Delegates will discuss the priorities for supporting organisations involved in the sector, looking at potential ways to diversify the night-time economy. They will also consider the current proposals to implement the Agent of Change principle and key issues around transport, providing for night-time workers and licensing.

The seminar is also timed to discuss the ongoing implementation of the second phase of the local alcohol action areas (LAAA) programme, with discussion on how businesses and local agencies can best work together to reduce nightlife-related crime and improve safety and public health, and the implications for policy.

Planned sessions will assess how cities and regions throughout the UK can best develop their own night-time economy strategies, as the London’s Night Time Commission consults on the Mayor’s vision for London as a 24-Hour City.

Overall we expect speakers and delegates to be a senior and informed group numbering around 120 including Members of both Houses of Parliament, senior government officials from central and devolved governments involved in this area of public policy, together with local authorities, businesses from across the night-time economy, transport providers, police and emergency services, business associations, cultural partners, tourism representatives, consultants, and community and advocacy groups, academics, charities, and reporters from the national and trade media.
