Job Description

THE ROLE: Live Assistant Editor (Temporary) Project Based

3PPW-Projected based 1000-hour freelance, per year. non-exempt

A&E Television Networks is seeking a freelance Live Assistant Editor. This role is based in Stamford, CT, at our post-production facility.

The ideal candidate will must be detail-oriented, adaptable, and thrives in the fast-paced environment of live broadcasting and post-production.

Key Responsibilities

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Manage Edit sessions to format live content.
Ensure media is prepared and staged for editing.
Check for captions and request them as needed.
Prep projects by syncing supplemental audio tracks and captions when automation is unavailable.
Export files for transcoding and delivery.
Ensure best practices for ingesting, transcoding, and standards-converting footage, troubleshooting quality issues as required.
Provide first line troubleshooting for technical issues and collaborate with Engineering to test systems and workflows.
Organize media and metadata to support archiving and project management.
Export proxies and deliverables per editor instructions.
Maintain live show timings and document final time codes.

Qualifications

YOUR STORY:

1–3 years of experience in live production or post-production.
Knowledge of live event production and file-based production workflows.
Familiarity with file formats, encoding processes, media supply chains, and digital delivery methods.
Proficiency in post-production tools such as Media Encoder, Telestream Vantage, Airtable, Premiere Pro, Office 365, Google G-Suite, and Frame.io.
Strong computer skills, including administration of Windows and MacOS systems.

Skills & Knowledge

Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with long-form, reality content, and broadcast television networks.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Flexibility to work to accommodate projects deadlines.
Background in non-linear editing in an area including Adobe (Premiere, AE, Audition, etc.)
Strong understanding of linear, non-linear, social media production workflows.

Please note project assignment associates are engaged to provide service to A+E Networks on a temporary basis in connection with a specific project. Project assignment associates are hired and employed through a third party vendor.

Compensation

Contract Hourly Pay Rate: $37.85

The pay rate displayed serves as a good faith estimate for this role.
