THE ROLE: Senior Editor, AETV.com

SUMMARY: Senior Editor, AETV.com

A+E Global Media seeks a versatile Senior Editor to help shape the future of the A&E web site, with a focus on true crime content. The ideal candidate will have a good command of story-telling and SEO. This job consists of 90% assigning and editing text stories, and building out the on-page experience. It is not a video editing job; applicants must have experience directing and editing text content.

Develop and assign stories, partnering with other team members to develop a solid content strategy around specific pillars relating to true crime content

Edit stories, ensuring a compelling story structure that puts the reader first

Ensure discoverability, eg SEO and sharable headlines

Build stories in the CMS, deciding what related content will create a strong on-page experience

Work with writers to develop ideas

Develop non-narrative content types like quizzes, polls and more to engage fans

Assist or build newsletters and social posts

Help edit content on other topics important to AETV

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Senior Editor, AETV.com

Minimum seven years editing experience at an authoritative website, preferably with daily deadlines

Experience and interest in crime, popular culture and history required

Experience with crime or sensitive content; familiarity with legal and ethical concerns

Proficiency with a CMS

Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Demonstrated track record of teamwork and collaboration; lone wolves need not apply

Strong portfolio of work 

Deep understanding of journalistic standards and practices, including knowledge of how to assess the credibility and reliability of sources

BA/BS degree in related discipline preferred

Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $59.90 - $68.89
Annual Incentive Target: 5%
