Editor

The Editor, MIA will have responsibility for, and oversight of, the agreed editorial strategies of The Area News in Griffith and The Irrigator at Leeton.

The role is responsible for ensuring audiences receive quality editorial content that is relevant, timely and legally safe, as well as managing the day-to-day running of the editorial staff assigned to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area community mastheads.

The successful candidate will have

A hunger to grow audiences on digital platforms and in print by producing quality local journalism
Strong news-gathering, writing/reporting and editing skills
Proven skills in writing and editing for online and social media audiences
The ability to lead and grow the capabilities of a small team of engaged and dedicated journalists
A commitment to meeting deadlines
Proven educational qualifications in Communications/Journalism.
Experience working in a newsroom environment
