Community Editor

Needed: A community editor for the Star Democrat newspaper in Easton, Maryland with experience covering local features, writing life and feature content and working with page layout. The editor will be responsible for finding life and community stories, cultivating submitted coverage and putting together the life section in each newspaper 6 days per week (1-2 pages Monday-Friday, 4 pages Sunday).
The editor will report to the Star Democrat managing editor and executive editor.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Experience writing at a local newspaper or media outlet
- Familiarity with print journalism
- Ability to work with community members to cultivate impactful life and community content
- Ability to write on deadline and work independently
- A basic understanding of newspaper page layout, no prior design experience required-An understanding of local journalism and its importance in a local community
