APG Media of Southern Wisconsin is looking for a dynamic leader to fill the top newsroom position for two daily newspapers between Madison and Milwaukee. As with most companies in the industry, the Watertown Daily Times and Daily Jefferson County Union and other newspapers in the Southern Wisconsin region are undergoing significant changes. We’re not just working harder, we’re working smarter, collaborating with our fellow editors and reporters and automating as much as we can so we can focus on what our readers want most – local news. This position will require rock-solid news judgment, the ability to manage, teach and elevate reporters and the ability to adapt to a changing news environment. APG’s emphasis on growing and retaining our digital subscriber base requires close attention to our websites, social media, newsletters and other platforms modern readers use to consume their news. And we’ll expect the Daily Times and Daily Union to produce high-impact enterprise, investigative and solutions journalism with the help of their sister publications. The successful candidate will need to become an important part of Watertown and Fort Atkinson and get to know movers and shakers in other communities in Dodge and Jefferson counties. In addition, our Southern Wisconsin publications are working on integrating processes efficiently, so collaboration both in planning and executing the daily operations with the editors in Beloit and Janesville is essential.
