We’re looking for a reporter who wants to be in the middle of Cleveland’s world-class foodie action as part of a team of reporters and critics at The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com devoted to covering the region’s restaurants, bars and food scene. Greater Cleveland has one of the most vibrant and respected food-and-dining scenes in the country and is home to many high-quality restaurants and bars and talented chefs, including several James Beard Award nominees. We are looking for an innovative and creative thinker who can put their stamp on our extensive coverage of this burgeoning and important part of Cleveland business and culture.

This writer would work as part of a team that tells stories about the places and the people who make Cleveland one of the most interesting food towns in the country. The writer will break news about restaurant openings and closings, profile top chefs and emerging food entrepreneurs, produce regular dining guides and explore stories about important food trends. They will also help produce the curated weekly DineDrinkCLE email newsletter and contribute photos, reels and other posts to cleveland.com’s popular DinkDrinkCLE Instagram account.

This will be a fast-paced beat in a dynamic newsroom. Cleveland.com, Advance Ohio is one of the largest news publications in Ohio. We thrive on delivering news to readers wherever they are quickly as well as deep-dive investigative reporting projects. We are looking for creative thinkers willing to do innovative storytelling on multiple platforms, including web-based storytelling, podcasting, video, photography and social media. The food-and-dining reporter will also have the opportunity to host or work in conjunction with others to develop events in the arts, culture and dining realms.
