This position pays between $45,000 to $55,000 annually.

This isn’t just a writing job. We’re looking for someone with reporting chops. Someone who can break news on the beat. Who can tell behind-the-scenes stories. Who can move quickly on trending news. Who can conduct engaging interviews and turn stories quickly. And someone who can generate story ideas based on insights, observations and sourcing within the community.
The ideal candidate for this job is a versatile storyteller who uses a variety of tools to engage readers, photos, videos and more.
What You’ll Need
A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
A minimum of one to two years of journalism experience with a proven ability to write engaging copy that’s clear and accurate.
The ability to identify and pitch stories, and show judgment on what makes for good news.
The ability to work independently on deadline and prioritize tasks.
Solid understanding of the news industry and local market.
The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
The Role
The Life & Culture Reporter is part of a team of journalists who cover food and drink, the outdoors, the arts, history, events and more. The team works together to keep people informed about who we are as a community and what’s happening here.
You’ll be responsible for developing a network of sources to help keep readers up-to-date on new and interesting things taking place and the people who make those things happen. You’ll be tasked with writing multiple stories each week, ranging from news briefs to well-reported features. This job cannot be done from home - you’ll be expected to get out into the community and share what you find with readers in print and online.
This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
