The Editorial Assistant plays a key role in producing content across platforms, with a particular focus on the print magazine and digital tentpoles. The Editorial Assistant reports to the Editorial Director.
Job Duties
Write and edit print magazine front-of-book departments, taking them through manuscript through page production
Assist senior staff with research, writing, and production for digital and print stories and packages
Adapt stories from print to digital, and vice versa
Pitch, research, report, package, and write digital stories
Assist with editorial administrative tasks, including but not limited to SEO-related updates and building and QAing stories, mailings, PR outreach, and workflow assistance
Develop a robust travel industry network through meetings with travel industry PR representatives
Attend and cover press previews and other industry events as relevant
Requirements
1-2 years editorial experience, preferably in journalism and/or digital media
Smart editorial instincts
Reporting experience
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
An orientation towards high-quality professional journalism
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Excellent reporting and writing skills
Experience working in a CMS
Comfortable doing basic photo editing and sizing
Team player who enjoys collaborating with others and gets satisfaction from helping teammates do their best
Must be a proactive self-starter with a collaborative spirit
Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Must be detail-oriented and deadline-savvy
Must have a passion for travel, and be interested in conceptualizing new and interesting ways to cover travel
