Compensation: $18.00/hour
Intern, Media – The Current:
Are you passionate about the power of music and media to engage communities? The Current seeks a Media Intern to support business planning and project management for content development and the 20th Anniversary celebration of 89.3 The Current. You collaborate closely with the Managing Director and cross-functional teams to assess media production and business practices for The Current's portfolio of content to ensure alignment with our strategic priorities, financial sustainability, and community impact. We are looking for a highly collaborative and curious individual who is passionate about music and public media.
Key Learning Goals:
The goal of this internship is to provide immersive learning and real-world experience through impactful projects. Our goal for you is to:
Learn and help assess the production and content creation workflows at The Current, Carbon Sound, and Radio Heartland.
Engage with the leadership team at The Current to gain an understanding of the day-to-day operations and planning for the 20th Anniversary celebration of The Current.
Gain experience in public media to help draft and propose recommendations for alignment between content, mission, values, and strategic vision.
Responsibilities:
In this hands-on role, you will dedicate your time to the following area:
Participate in a dynamic team environment alongside The Current's programming team to learn, support and advance brand goals.
Develop a framework for communicating The Current, Radio Heartland, and Carbon Sounds impact on the region.
Collaborate internally to implement best practices in media.

Programming:
Participate in robust on-boarding experience.
Professional development: on-the-job training, workforce readiness training, formal performance review feedback sessions, etc.

Required Qualifications:
Enrolled Senior in an undergraduate or graduate program OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months.
Must be able to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, approximately 9:00 – 5:00pm) for the duration of this internship.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Familiar with business and finance concepts.
Ability to work with teams by building trust, collaborating with internal partners, and leading with respect and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework or previous business experience (degree or internships) a plus.
Project management skills include using enterprise level tools such as AirTable, Monday or Asana.
Desire to work for a media or streaming company.
Passion for the mission of public media.
Experience producing static graphics for non-video materials.
