The Anchorage Daily News / adn.com, Alaska's most-read news source, is seeking a skilled and thoughtful opinion editor. This key newsroom position is responsible for curating and producing a range of compelling opinion content that's highly engaging, sparks meaningful conversation and serves the community.

The ADN opinion space is a statewide town square for discussion, ideas and solutions. Last year, we published more than 1,100 letters to the editor and hundreds of in-depth commentaries from Alaskans. The opinion editor develops, solicits, edits and curates timely, thought-provoking commentary from regular contributors, subject-area experts, and community members, and will help develop strategies for engaging with readers and delivering this content across all our platforms, including new ones. You'll reach into the community to develop new voices and tap into conversations that are happening — or need to happen. It's news of the day and politics, but also finding solutions and common ground, developing relevant experiential pieces about life in Alaska, walking in someone else's shoes, finding joy and delight in everyday life and shared experience.

We need someone with exceptional editing and organization skills. You need a strong command of accuracy, balance, fairness, ethics and style. You need experience in online news publishing. A strong working knowledge of libel and copyright is essential, along with the ability to work constructively with contributors and identify, develop and nurture new voices. Solid knowledge of Alaska current events and history is essential.
