The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within a designated product portfolio, including biofuels, sustainable aviation fuel, green hydrogen and carbon markets. In addition, you must be interested in energy, policy and economics, enjoy people and build relationships.
You will be writing engaging market intelligence and analysing spot prices that are timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful for our clients. This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content. You will be personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. In addition, there are opportunities to travel, attend industry events, present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

You do not need commodities or energy industry experience. Instead, intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a genuine desire to produce quality journalism are the primary qualities we look for in a diverse pool of candidates.
Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, analyses, and reports.
Establish strong relationships with key members of the industry and business leaders through meetings and daily communications to gain an in-depth understanding of your market.
Proactively generate pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and the online publication service, and contribute to unique content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.).
Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to build contacts and represent Argus in the industry.
Build your industry expertise and writing skills to provide readers with first-class market insights and analysis.

What we’re looking for in you
A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, or a relevant field.
Prior experience in the financial, energy, commodities or journalism sector is beneficial but not essential.
Excellent writing, grammar, and numeracy skills
Demonstrable interest in global energy markets
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives
