The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication seeks an experienced and collaborative journalist to lead the Carnegie-Knight News21 Reporting Initiative. News21 brings top students from journalism schools across the country to the Cronkite School each summer to report and produce award-winning multimedia projects of national scope and importance. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience editing and producing enterprise or investigative reporting and rich, multimedia storytelling. Candidates must also demonstrate passion for working with students and emerging journalists with a range of backgrounds and skill levels, and a commitment to diversifying newsroom ranks. This is a highly collaborative position. The Executive Editor works with faculty at dozens of journalism schools to recruit top students to participate in the program, as well as media partners to distribute News21 content across the country. The Executive Editor manages a team of faculty and students producing enterprise reporting and multimedia content, typically including text, photo, documentary video, podcasting, data visualizations and social media. The successful candidate brings strong organizational, communication and project management skills.
