Art Proposal Writer

We are seeking an arts writer to support the development of narrative responses for our clients as they seek opportunities for exhibitions, grants, residencies, fellowships, awards, public art commissions, and other artist opportunities.

For each open call you are assigned, you will receive a brief that includes in depth information about the opportunity including notes on past recipients and general thoughts about what will make a compelling response. You will also receive information about the artist and the work being submitted, an overview of how we want to position the work in this context, and relevant writing about the work that has been previously completed.

You will be asked to synthesize this information into concise responses that meet the requirements of each call for proposals.
This is a fully remote, part time, contract position starting at approximately 5 hours per week at a rate of $40 per hour.
Qualifications:

We are looking for someone to join our team who meets most of the following qualifications:

Arts writing experience

Experience with cultural grants (writing them, reviewing them, managing open calls)

Experience working with artists

Experience with collaborative writing via Google Docs

Openness to constructive criticism of your writing

Adaptable writing style - you will need to write in the voice of others and across a variety of contexts.

A proven track record of successfully landing artist opportunities for yourself or others is a plus.

Detail oriented

Able to work on a deadline
